Recently, a group of our Year 11 students and two staff members embarked on an immersion to the heart of Australia. Over this 11-day experience, seven were spent with the fellas at St Joseph’s Flexi Centre in Alice Springs (Arrernte country) and the latter three in Uluru (Anangu territory).
During their stay, the group established close and strong relationships with some of their Aboriginal brothers and sisters and were taught first-hand the Dreaming of the sites they visited. They then set off to experience Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon where they marvelled at the size and distance of the sites.
This immersion not only enabled our boys to grow in relationship, connection and appreciation but also strengthen our deep partnership with the fellas from St Joseph’s. As a College, we seek to improve our partnership with of our First Nations peoples, and embrace the Uluru Statement from the Heart and all it has to offer.
