As part of our Opening Mass, the College had the pleasure of officially welcoming and commissioning our new Deputy Principal, Mr Adrian Byrne. The presentation of various symbolic elements from our extended community included an image of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, our protector and guide, the Blue Cap and Black Tie representing the journey of most boys at the College, a rock on behalf of all students as a symbol of strength and integrity and a First Nations message stick, a sign of welcome and connection. These items were all brought forth and presented to Mr Byrne as symbols of who we are and what he has become a part of, as he joins us on this shared journey of education and formation. A final symbolic gesture in the ceremony was the lighting and passing on of the candle by Br Tony Whelan, serving as a reminder to always Shine our Light – ‘Luceat Lux Vestra’ .
