On Friday 22 July, several staff and nearly 200 students from across all year groups, engaged in our annual Winter Sleepout.
The night was incredibly informative, as the group engaged in discussions about the path to homelessness, people’s misconceptions about homelessness and what can be done to support those who are vulnerable. Following this, using the items donated from the 2022 Winter Appeal, the group packed toiletry packages to be sent out to homeless people.
Staff and students then rose to the challenge of sleeping rough for one night, with only a sleeping bag and some cardboard for support. The next morning, the group shared their experiences and reflected on the harsh realities faced by those experiencing homelessness.
The Winter Sleepout not only served to highlight the plight of our homeless but also raised over $11,000 for homeless services in Sydney.
