St Patrick's College Strathfield

Parents’ & Friends’ (P&F) Association

The Parents’ & Friends’ Executive extends a warm welcome to the St Patrick’s College community. Our aim, as the St Patrick’s College Parents’ and Friends’ Association (P&F), is to provide support and assistance to the College community. You can access all information related to the P&F through the TASS Parent Lounge and the Especean, the College newsletter. This information includes invitations to parent forums, details about volunteer opportunities and social events.

The College’s P&F social events provide excellent opportunities to connect with other parents and members of the community, and you can find the dates of these events in the College Calendar.

St Patrick’s College takes immense pride in our strong community and hopes that each parent can contribute in some way to nurture our sense of belonging and inclusivity. There are numerous avenues through which parents can offer their time to help build our community, and everyone is welcome to join and make a valuable contribution. Regardless of its scale, any form of assistance is always greatly appreciated, and it plays a crucial role in strengthening our community bonds.

Volunteer Opportunities

The College is proud of our strong community and hopes that each parent is able to contribute in some way to promote our sense of belonging and inclusivity. There are many ways that parents can volunteer their time to assist in building our community.

We periodically require parent volunteers for various activities, such as managing barbeques and stalls at Saturday sporting events, assisting with Founder’s Day, and addressing emerging needs. We wholeheartedly encourage all parents to consider volunteering whenever possible, as it sets a positive example for their sons and aligns with our program of service for all students and staff. Opportunities to volunteer will be communicated through the Especean newsletter and/or email.

Night Patrol Food Roster

St Patrick’s College is an Edmund Rice School, thus it has a strong commitment to social justice; to care for all who live on the margins of society through community outreach. One way you can support this community outreach is by supplying food for the St Vincent de Paul Night Patrol van. Approximately six times per year, parents are asked to supply one or two loaves of bread and/or fruit plus muesli bars or biscuits or juice poppers for the van from which food is distributed to Sydney’s homeless.

Chapel

All parents are welcome to join our community for weekly Mass which is held in the Chapel every Friday at 8:10 AM, during term time.

Each Thursday, a dedicated group of parent volunteers deepen their connection to the College by giving their time to cleaning the College Chapel. If you can volunteer one morning a month to Chapel cleaning, your participation in this committed team is highly appreciated. Volunteers are required from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, ordinarily one Thursday per month, and are required to fulfil the rostered time allocated.

If you would like to join other parents in supporting the College community via the service of Chapel Cleaning, you will need to:

  • Complete a Volunteer Agreement and Declaration Form. This form will be forwarded to you by the College when you have expressed your interest to volunteer for Chapel Cleaning via the Volunteer Opportunities Form below.
  • Provide the College with a Working With Children Check clearance as part of Volunteer Agreement and Declaration Form. For information on the NSW Working With Children Check, click here.
  • Provide the College with evidence of your COVID-19 Vaccination status. Further information will be available in the Volunteer Agreement and Declaration Form.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

As well as the above structured ways to support our mission, there are numerous other times we need parent volunteers. These include running barbeques and stalls at Saturday sporting fixtures, helping out with Founder’s Day (the College’s major celebration) and other needs as they arise. We encourage all parents, where possible, to volunteer in one way or another, modelling for their sons in the process, and in keeping with the spirit of service for all students and staff. Information regarding volunteer opportunities is communicated via the Especean and/or email.
