On Sunday 19 and Monday 20 March Year 10 Photography and Digital Media students participated in an overnight residency on Cockatoo Island.

Students engaged in a sustained and workshop led approach to their own photographic making. Students used the historic and industrial landscape as stimulus for their study into documentary photography focussing specifically on Forgotten Places. Students were given the brief of to find the beauty in large, abandoned and decaying structures of Cockatoo Island.

The extended time outside of the classroom offered students the chance to further explore their knowledge of the functions of their DSLR cameras as well as other creative extended techniques.

Students also participated in night workshops experimenting in capturing light through long exposure and the manipulation of spot lighting.
