St Patrick's College Strathfield

Religious Education

At the heart of the Christian Gospel is the call to live and to live fully in Jesus.

Throughout the centuries Christians have lived and tried to live as Jesus showed us, fully and without fear. Religious Education in the Senior School, as in the Junior School, is academic and pastoral in its teaching and assessment. It does not stand outside or apart from the primary educators of the students, the parents, but works in a fruitful collaboration.

Within the Syllabus across Stages 3 to 6 students study the depth of the Catholic tradition including History, Scripture, Theology, Mary and the Saints, Liturgy and Sacraments, the Christian spiritual traditions, Ethical and Moral teaching and Social Justice. Recognising the multi-cultural and multi-faith reality of Australian society, students spend time studying indigenous Australian Spirituality, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism. The Religious Education program of St Patrick’s works in partnership with all other faculties of the College. In particular, this program works with the Spiritual Development program to ensure a holistic, human and authentically Catholic formation of students, staff and parents.
